Progress on copying and digitisation orders – Canberra

Digitisation orders

Each year the National Archives processes thousands of orders for digital copies of records, which we make available through RecordSearch. We aim to provide quality digital copies within our service standards. During times of peak demand, such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day, delays may occur and we appreciate your patience as we process the increased number of orders.

Check the progress of your order

The National Archives requires pre-payment for digitisation orders. If you wish to check on the progress of your order, please first check that your payment has been processed by your financial institution. An order cannot be processed unless successful payment has been received.

We will send you a notification by email when your order is completed. Please check your email inbox (as well as any junk or spam folders) as your order may have already been completed.

If payment has been processed and your order has not yet been completed, then your order is still in progress. Orders for records held by the National Archives in Canberra are placed into one of two queues. Up to date information on the progress of each queue is available below:

  1. Orders for digital copies of records that are either Open or Open with exception (OWE) received on or before 8 March 2019 are currently being processed;
  2. Records which are Not-yet-examined (NYE) when they are ordered require examination before being made available for public access. Requests for NYE records received on or before 9 March 2019 are currently being processed.

Please check your order against these dates. If your order was submitted before the current processing date, you should hear from us soon.

Our fact sheets on the National Archives' digitisation service and access to records under the Archives Act provide further information.
