World War II discharge forms or certificates include the number of days of active service in Australia and overseas, as well as a description of the soldier upon discharge. John Albert Stephens, of the 2/43 Australian Infantry Battalion, served for 1905 days – 707 days in Australia and 1017 days outside Australia.
