2017 NAA Digital Continuity 2020 Statement

In line with Digital Continuity 2020 Policy, annual reporting requirements in 2017 consist of a short online survey, the 'NAA Digital Continuity 2020 Statement'. This mandatory survey comprises a number of statements to gauge agencies' progress against the principles outlined in the Digital Continuity 2020 Policy, and replaces the requirement to report against Check-up Digital.

The survey was emailed from service provider, Orima Research, to Agency Heads and primary information management contacts on 26 June, and is due for completion by 31 August.

The NAA Digital Continuity 2020 Statement:

  • significantly reduces the time taken to meet the reporting requirements in 2017
  • maintains senior management visibility and support for information management
  • requires Agency Head sign-off.

The Archives will analyse data collected via the survey to inform the annual report to our Minister as required under the Digital Continuity 2020 Policy, and will make the report available to agencies.

Check-up Digital is optional this year

Check-up Digital remains available for agencies to complete during 2017. Participation is purely optional but may assist agencies to measure their progress and set priorities to improve their digital information management maturity. Check-up Digital cannot be submitted to the Archives, and there will be no analysis or reporting on Check-up Digital in 2017.

In 2018 a new online survey will replace both Check-up Digital and the NAA Digital Continuity Statement.

About Check-up Digital

Check-up Digital was developed by the National Archives of Australia to help Australian Government agencies gauge their digital information management maturity and set clear direction for improved digital practices.

Check-up Digital focuses on business benefits and supports the Australian Government's priorities of 'digital by default', digital transformation and improved efficiency. It was derived from National Archives' and international standards, policies and guidelines and reflects a risk-based approach to information management so investment matches business risks and the value of information assets.

Australian Government agencies can use Check-up Digital at any time as a planning and priority setting tool for your agency or for specific parts of your agency.
