Lighthouse steamer Cape Otway

As with the steamer Cape Leeuwin, hull and machinery for Cape Otway were constructed at Cockatoo Island Dockyard for the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service. The vessel was allocated ship number 109. It was laid down on 22 September 1930, launched on 26 June 1931, and completed on 3 October 1931. The length between perpendiculars was 195 feet, and its gross tonnage was 996 tons.

Many of the items were traced from the working drawings of the two earlier lighthouse steamers built at the dockyard, Cape Leeuwin and Cape York.
