Makers’ drawings such as those in this series were supplied by manufacturers to Cockatoo Docks & Engineering Co. Pty Ltd for the construction and installation of parts on the vessels. The drawings in this series include the sand dust extraction plant, notice boards, fire alarm valves, windlass, and the hot water accelerated pump.

Included within this series are drawings relating to machinery arrangements, boilers, compressed air system, the alternator, steam exhaust, pumping systems, pressure gauges and shafting.

Included within this series are drawings of piping, floorplate, compressed air system, lubricating system, diesel fuel system and other mechanical drawings.

This book was used to monitor the progress and locate working drawings of the escort maintenance ship HMAS Stalwart (M2831). It operated as an unofficial register.

This folder consists of two pieces of cardboard holding five photostat pages listing files relating to the construction of this ship. Although the folder is labelled ‘Correspondence Index’, it provides a register to correspondence files.

These drawings show in detail the construction of piping systems, their fitting and interlinking. They cover fresh and saltwater circulation, bilge and firemain, compressed air and ‘lube’ oil systems.

This register does not cover the entire set of mechanical drawings, but is the major control record for the series of mechanical drawings for the ship (M2939). It lists sundry sketches, subcontractors’ drawings, guidance drawings and prints received from the Ship Drawing and Electrical Drawing Offices at Cockatoo Island Dockyard. The final section lists the mechanical drawings that were reviewed and approved by the Navy Office.

Most of these drawings are copies of Navy Office drawings, and cover such things as main cable routes, wiring arrangements, switch panels, general arrangements of the electrical rooms and fittings.

The miscellaneous sheets and drawings in this series cover the door and hatch board, supply and exhaust terminals, key plan to hatches and scuttles, sewage units, watch and station bill sheets and air quantity calculation sheets.

This series consists of results relating to the sea trials of the HMAS Stalwart which were conducted from Sydney Harbour during 1967. Port and starboard engines and all machinery were tested.

The ‘as fitted’ drawings in this series show the general arrangement, design and mechanical layout of the HMAS Stalwart on completion. They cover profiles, pumps, drainage, exterior fittings, and shell and frame expansions.
