HMAS Voyager
As with the HMAS Vampire, the HMAS Voyager was designed by the British Admiralty. Allocated ship number 188, it was laid down on 10 October 1949, launched on 1 March 1952, and completed on 10 February 1957. It had the same specifications as for HMAS Vampire. HMAS Voyager was the first all-welded warship built in Australia. Machinery and fittings, designed by the English Electric Company, were built for the vessel and allocated ship/job number 190. HMAS Voyager served with the British Commonwealth Strategic Reserve for a short time, and later represented Australia in various exercises and ceremonial occasions. On 10 February 1964, HMAS Voyager sank after colliding with HMAS Melbourne off Jervis Bay in New South Wales, with the loss of eighty-two men.
