HMAS Warramunga

The Tribal class destroyer HMAS Warramunga was constructed at Cockatoo Island Dockyard as ship number 139. It was laid down on 10 February 1940, launched on 7 February 1942, and completed on 22 December 1942. Its overall length was 377 feet and displacement was 1 927 tons. HMAS Warramunga, one of the fastest ships built at the dockyard, served in the Pacific during World War II, with the occupation forces in Japan, in the Korean War and in the Strategic Reserve in the Far East. It was sold for scrap in 1963.
