Management of Human Resources

In 1999–2000 the National Archives paid the equivalent of 328.48 full-time staff. At 30 June 2000, staff employed numbered 360 and included 286 ongoing full-time staff, 14 ongoing part-time staff and 60 non-ongoing staff. Figure 1 indicates staffing distribution by office, and Figure 2 indicates employment classification by gender.

A total of 15 staff voluntarily retired during the year.

There was one incident reported to Comcare under section 68 of the Occupational Health and Safety (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1991 during 1999–2000.

Training and staff development activities

During the year $223 359 was spent on fees for officers to attend external staff development and training courses, seminars and conferences of direct relevance to staff. The training and development needs of individual employees were identified through their Performance Agreements under the Performance Management Scheme.
