In 1939 the Australian Government embarked on an ambitious program to mass-produce Beaufort aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Using the British Bristol Beaufort as a design, 700 Beauforts were produced in Australia to help counter the Japanese threat in the war in the Pacific.
The Beaufort Division of the RAAF produced many posters to promote its role in the war effort, as well as to influence the opinions, attitudes and actions of Australians. This showcase of posters illustrates how, through the use of catchy slogans and easily understood images, they were an ideal medium for conveying propaganda.
