On 11 December 2019, the National Archives of Australia withdrew the records disposal freeze issued on 2 February 2018 relating to records required for the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
Noting the conclusion of the Royal Commission in 2019 and the submission of the final report to parliament, the National Archives in conjunction with the Attorney-General's Department has determined that there is no further need to retain such records for the purposes of the Royal Commission.
Effective immediately, these records may be authorised for destruction under general and agency-specific records authorities issued by the National Archives or using a normal administrative practice.
