This is a black-and-white photograph of the Rt Hon. James Scullin, Australia's ninth Prime Minister. He is directly facing the camera. As the ninth Prime Minister, Scullin took office in 1929 until the end of 1931. He is best remembered as the first Prime Minister to choose the Governor-General, and also for weathering the Depression while delivering reform.
