Department of Health,
CANBERRA. A.C.T.
Dear Sir,
We are to publish a book shortly entitled "Horrie the Wog Dog". This book is written by a soldier named Moody who brought it to us in diary form. We then got Mr. Ion L. Idriess to write up the story form the diary. Enclosed are galley proofs which you might like to look over. The story is undoubtedly the best dog story of the war.
Unfortunately the diarist did not, I find, get in touch with the Quarantine Department when the dog was brought into Australia, being terrified that it would have been destroyed.
The dog went through the Greece and Crete campaigns with the soldiers and the two ships he travelled on the Greece and back from Crete were both torpedoed, but the dog's life was saved. I understand the dog had been three years in Australia and do hope that his life may be spared.
Yours faithfully,
