Mr & Mrs J. E L. W [Full surname has been redacted throughout the record.]
Mr W applied as a single man in 1970. He was interviewed by Mr Panett and although the applicant was assessed as being M/D, because of his colour, in the opinion of the interviewing officer, the applicants [sic] integration prospects were initially nill [sic]. Application was rejected.
Under present policy colour alone is no guide to integration and as Mr W has the brother of his C/R already in Australia, it would be difficult for us to maintain rejection.
To be fair to the applicant, he and his wife should be reinterviewed when a further assessment of his integration prospects can be obtained.
