I am directed to request you to invite His Excellency the Governor-General to be so good as to communicate to General Sir Edmund Allenby by cablegram the following resolution which was passed at a public meeting held in the Town Hall [handwritten] Toowoomba [end handwritten] on December 16th:-
"That this meeting of loyal citizens of Toowoomba records its heartfelt appreciation of the magnificent generalship, endurance and heroism of the Allied troops in Palestine in securing the deliverance of the City of Jerusalem from Turkish dominance after centuries of oppression and wrong, and further that we express our gratitude and pride at the part played by the Australian troops in this great enterprise.
