About this record
This letter from Edward Drew’s parents gives their consent for him to enlist in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF). At the time, men aged 18 to 35 were eligible to enlist, but those under 21 required permission from their parents. The men had to meet minimal height and fitness requirements. Further restrictions applied to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
