After soldiers' four long years of service and sacrifice, returning them to civilian employment was a priority for the Australian Government.
The Repatriation Department:
- Established employment bureaus;
- Implemented preferential employment schemes;
- Provided vocational training to help those whose apprenticeships and education were Disrupted by enlistment; and
- Organised rehabilitation activities.
