Sir,
In reply to your wire of the 4th. inst. [4th of this month] I have caused inquiries to be made and have thehonour [sic] to inform you that there are seven permanent Moscues [sic] in this State.
The principal Moscue [sic] is in Perth, others are situated at Coolgardie, Mount Malcolm, Leonora, Bummers Creek, Mount Sir Samuel, and Mount Magnet.
There are only two resident Mahomedan Priests both in Perth. and [sic] about 25 Sayeds ( Priests ) who are called descendants of the Prophet. These men lead the Mahomedan Service in other districts as mentioned above, and are termed Lay Preachers, but are not Mahomedan Priests following such profession. They are all working men and conduct these services without any remuneration.
