Freedom of information disclosure log

Publicly available information released following an FOI access request

The National Archives is required by section 11C of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 to publish a disclosure log on its website. The disclosure log lists information which has been released in response to an FOI access request.

The disclosure log requirement does not apply to the below exceptions:

  • personal information about any person if publication of that information would be 'unreasonable'
  • information about the business, commercial, financial or professional affairs of any person if publication of that information would be 'unreasonable'
  • other information covered by a determination made by the Australian Information Commissioner if publication of that information would be 'unreasonable'
  • any information if it is not reasonably practicable to publish the information because of the extent of modifications that would need to be made to delete the information listed in the above dot points.

As a result of these exceptions, the documents published on the disclosure log may be edited versions of the documents originally provided to FOI applicants.

Recently released FOI documents can be accessed via the link in the disclosure log. FOI documents that exceed file size limits and/or file formats may not be available online. These documents can be requested by email at foi@naa.gov.au or by writing to us at PO Box 4924, Kingston ACT 2604.

Please note that links to documents will usually be removed after 12 months unless the information has enduring public value. If any link is removed, a request for those documents can still be made either by email or by writing to us.

Charges may be imposed to reimburse National Archives for the cost incurred in copying, reproducing and/or mailing documents. You will be notified if charges are payable. Payment will be required before the information is provided.
