Sir,
With reference to your letter no. 24/1069 of 21st January /14 I have the honour to herewith enclose two letters in their respective envelopes (one in English, and the other in the Vernacular) which were received by me from Ellum Deen and the last one under registered cover (evidently written by the District Magistrate of Gujarat Punjab India for Ellum Deen) forwarding the document duly submitted to you with my letters of 17th the [word inserted above] instance. I regret to state that I am unable to find any other of the letters which he sent me in support of my statement, but further beg to state that I have written to his brother Moula Wad, who is away in the Country hawking, and also to Hasham Deen, to send me the letters which Ellum Deen had sent them from time, to time, to obtain

permission for him to return, and as soon as ever I receive them I shall be only too pleased to forward them on to you, Sir, as I can assure you that I feel it keenly, that I would not have you Sir, or the Honorable the Minister on any account to mistrust me, or doubt my statements, no not after having served the Crown for the last six and twenty years.
