Melbourne, 21st January, 1914
Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 17th instant, applying for re-consideration of your application for permission for an Indian named Ellum Deen to re-enter the Commonwealth, the Minister desires to be furnished with some evidence in support of your statement that this man has written to you and others during the past few years asking that endeavour should be made to obtain permission for him to return to Australia.
2. I shall therefore be glad if you will forward any letters received from Ellum Deen during the period referred to.
